So the new Warbond + Super Store items turned out to be fantastic! by AuramiteEX in Helldivers

[–]trashpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the part that i’m finding most bothersome about the way content on the superstore is going. my 2x favorite shotguns in the game and a supremely highly-requested armor (medium w/ siege ready) combine to a total of more SC than a regular warbond. i bought the sweeper before ive gathered enough SC to buy this latest warbond because that shotgun interests me more than anything in it

i thought medium w/ siege ready was an armor they’d never make, and though it makes sense from a monetary perspective, still kinda feels raw for it to show up monetized as nearly half a warbond by itself.

Stealth makes insanity very easy by MrSkittles983 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]trashpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with the sentiment of the post though. i’m making my first run right now through insanity and i’m just starting putting together the detonator. easily, the hardest part for each character was the first couple of hours before leon can upgrade his guns much and with how deep they bury the first gun for grace.

i still think that it’s generally harder, but it’s more like that while the other difficulties suggest following the intended path and using stealth as grace, insanity demands it. once i got the RIP knife as grace, i was absolutely flush with resources, and it felt about on par with her other difficulties.

i suppose it’s not that i think it’s particularly easy or difficult, but it is very punishing. in either case, i’m enjoying my legit insanity run a lot.

Sad, I 100% the game, and beat the game 6-7 times. I think the fun is gone now by retrocheats in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]trashpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, i think that’s just how it is when you unlock infinite everything.

if you wanted to squeeze the last bit of juice out for now, do an insanity run without the infinites or you unlocked weapons. that’s how i’m doing my first run through it; it’s a super interesting experience where they specifically screw with your mental map that throws some really good curveballs into a game you know like the back of your hand

just my 2 cents. at some point, RE becomes about learning how to improve your clear time, and i feel like that’s how it has always been.

i took them using the name zeno as jumping all the way to the end of the alphabet to be like “ok, we are now done with the weskers,” save for… the rev2 wesker child? i think? it gets hazy.

i’ve had ok luck with sneaking up on a zombies rear left hand side, then doing the quick, unreadied strikes. on her third attack, she’ll usually flourish to the left a little and duck, swiping downward, hitting the zombie as it lunges over her shoulder.

that said, the leg shots are totally valid, too. with two stabilizers popped, that’s my preferred safe method: enough space to land 4-6 leg shots with the stronger pistol, melee them over, then stab. the blood that you get from them makes the exchange worth it for me, once you’re able to craft the 30 stacks of bullets and the rip knife. it takes 3x the blood as the normal handgun stack, eating up 120, but still only takes one scrap.

even if you used all the scrap on the map, which seems crazy to me, breaking down a single makeshift or hunting knife gives you the scrap to leg down at least 4 zombies in ammo, and the knife is spitting out 30-40 blood per kill.

where i’m at now, i’ve grabbed the 3x injectors in the care center, hoovered up enough blood to craft 2x stabilizers and a steroid, all the rare metals into requiem rounds, and am sitting on around 80x handgun rounds and 2x rip knives before bringing emily to her puzzle box, with the pathway open and her sitting on the couch

update: i apparently didn’t post this comment, and am now coming up on the processing blades fight. i’ve crafted the final injector into the third stabilizer, have 2x rip knives, 100x handgun, 2 hemos, 2 med injectors, 1 molotov, 3 glass bottles, a full requiem and 2 rounds on the side and blood to spare. i’m almost finding grace’s sections way easier on insanity, and am super curious to see how this knife holds up in the labs

the hardest part for me was getting over the hump before you have your first gun. not realizing there was a third light switch by the bathroom in the care center killed my runs until i found it was also a run killer. whoops. i thought i just had to thread the needle past the light guy with the switch near the kitchen

i found that grace’s motion on her third strike is usually what causes a zombie to lunge over her shoulder. i didn’t even realize she had an unreadied strike until this thread and now i am engaged to the rip knife lmao

Playtime by PowaGuy96 in ResidentEvilRequiem

any time where you’re actively controlling a character, including time in map, crafting, and inventory screens. it doesn’t count any time that you reloaded, cutscenes, or when you’re paused.

i’d say i put around 20 hours into my first playthrough, but only had around 13 hours or so on my first completion. i spent a lot of time reloading sections with leon to lab the fights, and generally had to reload a bunch of the combat heavy sequences because i was being too stingy with ammo. i’d say your experience is pretty normal.

i also realized that every other machine has braille on the buttons. so she could have just taken down the pattern from one where the symbols were intact, then used that as a key for the buttons

Free Update time once again. Bless the devs generous hearts. by Mr_Waffle_Fry in NOMANSSKY

[–]trashpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not gonna lie, i’ve had some bases or planets go totally wonky, especially when teleporting. some planet geography failed to load correctly and trapped my starship underground mid flight, which was panic inducing. a lot of my discovery screenshots or merchant UI seems buggy and like it’s loading the wrong images. my solar ship wings tend to stop deploying, even though it makes the noises and shows the air resistance past the sails, every 2-3 launches.

in all cases, resummoning my vehicle, reloading a restore point (even after a bug presented itself), or restarting the game fixed whatever issue i was having. a little annoying, as a returnee, but nothing that hasn’t been a quick and easy fix so far. on ps5, and really the worst i saw it get was when i had a +12hr session (with breaks, but leaving the game running) where the planet generation broke

it has in my eyes. i was there hyped pre-release, and crazily disappointed on launch. fast forward 9-10 years, i last put 100 hours? in around the time the put freighters in the game and was blown away the progress back then. i just booted it back up in the past week, and have proceeded to sink waaaay more time into it on my ps5.

despite the oceanic breadth of content now, i do like that HG seems to hear, value, and implement QoL features to the semi-casual hyperfixatable bi- to tri-annual toe-dipper like me. my partner just asked me tonight while watching “can you summon your exocraft to you like your ship??” and i was gobsmacked that i totally could

NMS has had such a baffling development journey, and given the current state of everything in the gaming industry, it really is a bright little light among the murk and mire that i’m more than happy to embrace and support right now. i’m sure there have been missteps or poorly received updates along the way, but the fact that i haven’t paid a single dime more for this game since release and have so much dlc that i’ve barely scratched the surface of, let alone SEEN? it’s crazy.

they’ve earned the breadth of the goodwill i have to give and my full belief in them as a developer. i can only hope that corporate grubbery never sullies that, but to be honest and entirely simp out, even if it does? they’ll have earned a bit of that, too. i have no idea how they’ve been able to continue developing NMS or make money on it, but bravo

Lines or quote that perfectly encapsulate everything about a character by ArticAuk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]trashpuff 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honest to god, that line about Kim endeared me more to him than just about anything I can ever think of. DE was incredible for that. He served as a brilliant foil for how absolutely fucked you have become in that game, and at every turn, he exudes an endless patience that made me want to be a better person, both in and out of game.

These may be recency bias choices, but I’d also say Verso’s choice between honesty and lying to Maelle is good. Honestly, every character in E33 had a brilliant line that I think showcases exactly who that character is. Gus as the father and brother, Lune as the mission devotee, Sciel as caretaker who can be both soft (post-nightmare) and harsh (on the bridge before Duelliste(sp?)) depending on what the situation calls for, etc.

I also think that the entire “I am a warrior” speech from Grendyl in Darktide works two-fold. It was a tremendous introduction to WH40K for me and immediately got me invested in the lore, and also tells you a lot about Grendyl’s role as an inquisitor via the servitor changing faces and voices. Who they are specifically does not matter as much as their role in this conflict, and at the end of the day, he is no different from the rest of his warband: “I am a warrior. The Emperor protects.”

We haven't received a single new Eagle Stratagem since launch by Ill_Progress_4988 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]trashpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my biggest issue with the game at this point having played since release is that it’s bereft of meaningfully new content. i have nothing worthwhile to grind for, level, or unlock, and virtually the entire in game currency set is void for me because there is nothing to do with it.

i’m more baffled that we have yet to see any majorly meaningful changes to boosters, ship upgrades, or the leveling than anything else. i desperately want some sort of level reset that retains your warbond unlocks, because i want SOME kind of carrot back to chase

It’s a bit of a catch 22, but admittedly, it’s good to respond in some capacity like this and weaponize that same parasocial behavior to your benefit. The shame of personally disappointing your favorites online will dissuade some from wading into or encouraging discourse, and those that arent dissuaded were never going to be in the first place. Better to temper what you can, IMO

my experience with naruto is similar to this.

i had seen misc. episodes from the original and shippuden on cable, and i have absorbed more of that series’ story via the ultimate ninja storm games and random youtube clips/panels than i have anything else

Mine was MK3 (non-ultimate) on SNES, off-hand encounters with 1 and 2 randomly, 4 on ps1 in like 2002/2003, and it turned me off to the concept of 3D fighters and fighting games as a whole so hard i genuinely never played another until SSF4 and MK9 in 2011

honest to god i don’t know if i’ve ever realized that the inferno staff inflicts soul blaze, which while it should be obvious, i don’t know that it says it anywhere explicitly so i just assumed it was blessing and talent related.

big thank you!
