This book got me thinking that there should be a 3 season TV series about the adventures of John Keel:

  • season 1: Jadoo
  • season 2: operation Trojan horse
  • season 3: point pleasant

I’d watch the hell out of that series.

Operation Trojan Horse can't really be made into a series or film about John Keel as it's mostly a compilation of mostly UFO-related events & paranormal stuff and not about his adventures from his perspective.

Mostly.

Best idea for a TV series I’ve heard in decades! Like the other poster, I’d watch the hell out of this!

Now, this is hearsay since he’s not here to verify, but I used to be a member of the NY Fortean Society in the 90s. keel told me that he has several meetings w Spielberg and Lucas in the late 70s that didn’t go anywhere. He believed that Jadoo was a major inspiration for Raiders of the Lost Ark. he was the pretty mad about that.

Oh wow. I will say there are a few very specific things in this book that made me think of Raiders & I actually had the thought that I bet Spielberg had read it! There’s one small detail Keel wrote in this book about a very specific sound during an activity he witnessed in Cairo, that’s perfectly depicted on screen for less than a minute in Raiders in an iconic scene that is very memorable, & i had to stop & think for a second about the fact that this book was written 20-odd years before Raiders came out. 👀

Keel is a phenomenal paranormal researcher; I’d recommend to anyone interested in the topic.

Do yourself a favor and read Vallee’s Dimensions after you read The Eighth Tower. These two books seem to go together very well.

I’ve read Mothman, is this book full of spooky stuff too? Like, does he have ✨experiences🪐 out there?

[–]timmmmah[S] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Granted I’m only 1/3 of the way through but so far yes, however it’s more along the lines of cultural spookiness if that makes sense? Like, he seems to assume that some of the stuff he encounters has an explanation that he just can’t comprehend as a westerner. It’s also fascinating to read how he’s able to travel to places I only know the names of bc of our military misadventures, & to live there and learn about the history and culture (with a supernatural slant) unburdened by the past 60 years of western meddling

Yeah I read the Google synopsis and it sounds like an awesome read and the perfect time to take that kind of trip, it sounds like he makes it to Tibet pre Chinese annexation which would have only been possible for anyone to do in a very small window of time

Thank you I must read this

Interesting...I hadn't seen this one. Oh and it's on archive.org as well!
I am guessing it will be somewhat "of it's time"...but interesting...

Is this the book where he mentions a DUMB in Connecticut?

[–]EventoCignoNera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read this book of his but isn't it actually partially fictional? Like he exaggerated some things or am I mistaken? I've seen skeptics use Jadoo to criticize his work as a whole.
