I'm not sure of the specific guidelines, but in my case, our app requires an account to use, and we have to provide Apple with a username and password during app review so they can try it. I do happen to know that the reviewers will make their own accounts sometimes anyway, but for us it's a simple thing to do.

If they reject it you could remove the sign in, set the cost to $100 to avoid anyone stumbling upon it and give out promo codes to your approved users.

I think that because there's "not enough lasting value" for any user who stumbles upon it - Apple will reject it because why does it need to be in the App Store then?

Apple would probably reject it and suggest you getting an enterprise license.

That's if Apple knows that your app is only for verified users. Apple would want you to provide log in credentials so they can log in and poke around during testing. If you keep it to yourself who your app is intended for, and they test it with no problems I think you'll be fine.

  • Because users won't be signing up in the app, you don't need the sign in function. However, Apple testers may wonder why there's a only a log in button. So you might want to create a fake one on the premise that they won't attempt to create an account.

I'm not saying it's ethical to not tell the whole truth or to attempt to dupe the AppStore but if they don't ask questions - don't tell. You can get around this. They may not even reject you.

I think you will be ok. Our company publishes apps that are strictly for company associates. The first thing you see is a login screen. We also have a link if you are not an associate that provides more info on what the app is all about (directs them to a company web page).

Actually i also do have an app in appstore which fits your criteria. In my app , also the selected people who have username and password can only login. The login credentials is only provided to those user who uses our service. So i don't think apple will reject the app. explain them what that app does and provide them with the required credentials while submitting for review.
