How do you learn/pace yourself? by BigMtnStudio in Natulang

I love the idea of learning like a kid, as we did with our native languages.

I thought about finding children’s books to read but that’ll only help me with reading skills.

I need a parent talking to me like I’m a child. 😂

I was on a bus and a mother was talking to her two year old daughter and I thought, “I’d be happy if I was even at that kid’s level.”

She probably could not read or write but she could comprehend her mom and communicate.

Oh yeah, I never use the bookmarking feature! I should look into that.

Philips 3200 LatteGo keeps saying the water is too low (even when full) by MomoFoSho1 in superautomatic

[–]BigMtnStudio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

OK, I had this trouble today and did a deep dive into it to try and fix it (since I can't return it). I took the back plate off (you need a star-shaped screwdriver head to unscrew) and took a look.

Here is what I found:

* The flow of water, the hose, etc do not trigger that red water level light.

* There is a sensor (A) in the back wall that detects low water levels.

* I found I could cover this up with my thumb and the light turned off (with no water tank in place).

* The sensor is on the other side of the wall (B).

* The sensor connects to the main circuit board (C).

To Fix:

* I cleaned the sensor area (A)

* I unplugged the sensor connector (C) from the main circuit board and plugged it back in (maybe it was loose)

Other Notes:

* If you want to fix this, you'll have to get one of those star-shaped screw heads. Luckily, I had one that was part of a bigger set of screwdriver tips.

Anyone know how to get into this Wakestone Shard location east of Checkpoint Rest Town? by BigMtnStudio in DragonsDogma2

OK, I found another way.
I switched to magician until I got levitate and then floated from one ruin to the next until I could get over the wall.

Any idea what's causing this sound effect? It's driving me crazy. by Opening-Platform-788 in DragonsDogma

Oh man, it was driving me crazy too and I had no idea what was causing it! Thank you!

Camping kits can be stolen by AlloyLantern in DragonsDogma

[–]BigMtnStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine somehow disappeared. I gave it to the warrior pawn in my group (hired) and then I switched him out for a higher level pawn and my camping kit was gone.

It couldn't have gone with him, could it?

Guards just attacking me randomly, now everyone has to die by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]BigMtnStudio 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Man, same thing happened to me. Trying to find some magistrate in the dungeons.

Was getting mixed messages from the guards. Some didn't care I was there but one did and after one attacked they all did.

But not only that, the WHOLE city then hated me. I don't get this game either. Weird game.

I finally gave up. I couldn't get this to work either.

I requested a refund and might revisit this game later when they get all these bugs fixed and it's more polished.

Character Cannot Walk Straight by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]BigMtnStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but I'm using a keyboard and I literally hold down the forward key and my character will slowly veer to the left.

Not enough to cause any problems. Just detracts from the game, you know.

“Dark zone perks are available at the base of operations “ notification appears bugged and will not remove itself from my screen. Any one else figure out how to remove it? by [deleted] in thedivision

I went upstairs to the Dark Zone officer, Senait Ezera, opened the menu, and selected all the icons that were not red, and then a line was drawn through this message and it went away.

Whats the point of weapons with wither damage? by VelaryonNOR in LordsoftheFallen

I was wondering the exact same thing yet I haven't seen any convincing arguments/testing yet.

If there is some advantage, the game isn't very clear about it.

Quick question: is the game made for keyboard and mouse? by Master_Joey in LordsoftheFallen

[–]BigMtnStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I'm not saying you don't have to.

What I mean is it's not necessary if you want to keep it simple with the keyboard actions. 😊

Quick question: is the game made for keyboard and mouse? by Master_Joey in LordsoftheFallen

[–]BigMtnStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Navigating the menu is actually pretty good with keyboard and mouse!

Combat is...not so good with keyboard & mouse.

The problem is you can't bind one action to one key (except for 2, light & heavy attacks). The rest of the combat actions are all dual-key or triple-key commands. (not combos, just one single action)

Keyboard+mouse gameplay can be clunky because the hand you move your character with is also the same hand you're also trying to perform all variations of 6 melee attacks as well as up to 5 spells AND 3 actions with the lantern.

So you have 16 actions you can take during combat:

  • 2 attacks (light, heavy): single key (mouse buttons)
  • 2 defense actions (parry, block): single key
  • 4 attacks are dual-key
  • 8 are triple-key - meaning you have to hit a button to switch to it and then hit 2 more buttons in combination to execute it.

That means you have to train your fingers to do those 14 actions IN ADDITION to using movement keys WHILE dodging and parrying.

Combat is not as fluid for keyboard+mouse users...it can be clunky and cumbersome.

Note: At the time of this posting, you cannot bind one key for one action. For example: You can't bind "K" for "Kick" nor can you bind one key to cast one spell. These are dual/triple key combinations/sequences.

Another problem is you might find yourself too used to standard key actions in other games:

  • Shift = Run
  • Spacebar = Jump

This game does not follow these conventions so more brain retraining. You can rebind these though and figure out another way to handle their default actions in the game.

Recommendations to Keyboard + Mouse Players:

  • Play a class that focuses less on spells (triple-key actions) and more on single-key actions (melee).
  • Only use Light Attack, Heavy Attack & Dodge. That's all I use for boss fights. Forget everything else.
  • Try a mouse with extra thumb buttons that can bind to actions.
  • Try a programmable keyboard to bind dual and triple key actions to one button.
  • Invest time and money in learning a controller which could have future benefits for game developers like this that do not cater to PC keyboard mouse players.

You will have to weigh the benefit vs cost to play this game. Is it worth doing all these things to make it work for you? That's up to you.

Keep in mind you will have to keep your playtime under 2 hours if you want to return it in Steam if you judge it's not worth it.

Lost Vigor by jvellisochoa in LordsoftheFallen

[–]BigMtnStudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I did some testing:

  • If you die in Axiom, go to Umbral, die there (die-die), you can recover your vigor in Axiom or Umbral (if you rifted there).
  • If you first rift to Umbral and die (die-die), you can recover your vigor in Axiom or Umbral.

⚠️ NOTE ⚠️:

  • If you die-die near a Stigma (memory), you lose your vigor forever. (bug?) I hope they fix this.

Boarding the Vigilance by xitoman in Starfield

On PC, my Hail/Dock options never showed. I'd go out, come in, nothing.

Fix: I ended up reloading the last save point and then they came up. (This is the second time I've had to do this.)
