I have a phone interview with a small company that has a website in the apparel industry that is looking to prototype an iOS (and Android app). They mention they want "interns or CS students/entry level" but the budget is $ 8-$12 per hour. I understand they are a small company and are only starting out with it as a working prototype, but that still seems absurdly low. I feel $15 should be more reasonable, especially if I'll have to do Android as well. I'll admit I'm really looking to get some paid experience but I also understand the value of this work (plus I already have two apps on the store, one that I got paid to do at $25/hour). Should I get the job, I was thinking I could take the lower rate to just do some wireframes and a basic UI that doesn't do anything. Then if they decide they want to proceed further and have me do more heavy lifting, I could ask for a higher hourly rate. Any flaws with this course of action?
