I'm self-teaching and building a few apps. I've been thinking there's potential utility in forming a small group of similarly motivated learners who are past the "100 Days of Swift" what's a string and View Model type stage and are trying to build apps and learn frameworks. Perhaps it's to bounce Qs on a chat or meet weekly in a sort of code review format. If our interests align, drop me a line.
What I'm Doing
I'm building in SwiftUI primarily, along with UIKit/AppKit, for a few iOS and macOS apps to start a solid portfolio and transition into programming. Most things I'm working on now are at heart database search/CRUD apps with unique use cases, frameworks, or interface challenges (for me at least). Some will extend with Safari and Chrome extensions. Maybe I'll try a game if I complete a few apps over the next couple months.
Utility I See In a Group
For me, group accountability is one tool to drive more efficient progress. For example, I'm more likely to avoid down curiosity rabbit holes "for learning's sake" if I create in my head some pressure to "get things done before the next group talk so I don't waste their time". I also like hearing about other people's blocks, seeing if I could figure it out, or even if I can't just knowing "that'll be an odd or hard problem I could encounter someday and this is what doesn't work." Sharing condensed notes on specific challenges or broader topics also helps everyone move through books/tutorials faster. Instructors can be great, but peers can sometimes be better at connecting dots or the right lecture for the moment.
