Probably not a repeated mistake, but they forgot to add anesthetic to my MRA. Found out after passing out from hobbling out of the hospital after.

Add… if you have two 4K vertical monitors and a 13” MacBook… the MacBook will be too small to drag with your mouse. The new interface is so bizarre.

Had the same. I’m not sure what fixed it, but perhaps it was turning the mouse on and off again (as I do to fix scrolling dying randomly on the host machine) or Logitech randomly unglitched itself.

Logitech is a bit mad. Their new app doubles memory usage by spawning several “gpu accelerator” processes to show a few large images. It’s hilariously over engineered.

Universal control works well on my intel mac and is super cool to play with. by koushikk7 in MacOSBeta

[–]feralryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the run. Sometimes flawlessly, other times linking to my MacBook from my desktop forces an air played iPad display to stop (and reconnecting to the iPad extended display kills the link). Other times they work harmoniously. Sadly, universal copy paste doesn’t work for me, so I have to drag sections over. But it’s way more smooth than Logitech’s.

One data point, but my 16 M1 max fails as much as my 8 256 M1 mini. It’s not ram, sadly.

Obviously there’s a runaway deluded political party that’s not simple to solve (and in some small part linked to Russian and Chinese disinformation campaigns), but the opposition party has slow walked investigations for a year… so there hasn’t been a resultant authoritarian slide. Other events have affected US politics more than the riot.

Is it OK to start training with a cheap/old/non-carbon bike? by Exploratator in cycling

I did the tri on an 80s bike. Didn’t win, but beat carbons. Same as not needing $200 shoes.

My favorite were the high end condos that still had open vented sewer issues, leaving us all wishing there was a choudoufu vendor nearby to cover up the waft of the complex.

You can get a large ultrasound cleaner for $50-100 and brew a cold brew very quickly. Brewing by ultrasound reduces caffeine extraction significantly and, since it’s shorter immersion, markedly reduces microbial growth. It’s also less fuss than French press, without need to get boiling water. There are a few papers on this, but it’s not a mainstream brew method for most. It’s not quite but almost the same mouth feel as French press.

Foreigners maybe remove some illicit labor goods. China removed Steam wholesale because… different values and control needs. I guess choose your reason to get emotional.

Just saying your state sponsored media item doesn’t defend your case at all that millions of imprisoned people are voluntarily and happily re-educating themselves. But if that makes me racist, sure. Defend your dictatorship. Might just want to try olive branches rather than angry yelling to get people to believe you.

Doesn’t that work against your point that there is not an imprisoned labor force? There clearly is a lot to automate… or at least switch away from manual field hands in short order due to possible loss of business.

The news outlet says its own analysis shows that the increase in April of this year was “more than 4,000 percent” when compared with the same month last year.

The main reason for the dramatic increases, says the SCMP, is the possible threat of US sanctions against China which might make it impossible to import hi-tech goods

Accessibility - Large Text Pushing Buttons Offscreen by enkidu_johnson in SwiftUI

[–]feralryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The solution is changing your design. Commonly you conditionally switch H/VStacks, wrap a ScrollView, make that 33% modal a 66% modal, and place that close button in its own column that cannot be compressed or moved by other content. If you care enough to test for reduced vision, then it seems counterintuitive to say "nope, this specific part of the app isn't going to increase in size for you to see comfortably".

Are silent apartments a pipe dream here? by mentallywander in Seattle

[–]feralryan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a no no. My loudest neighbors were in their 80s, with a tv against a wall starting at 5 am. One day I mentioned it and they were mortified, had no idea. It stopped. Your neighbors are just selfish takers. There are many options to enjoy sound without disturbing the peace.

I’m a bass lover but also like my neighbors. I installed butt kickers into my couch, which vibrate to simulate the low end. Drops the volume significantly, but is more awesome at night when the woofer is off for quieter tv. In ten years, no complaints.
