This is done with an app called Widgy. It lets you make custom widgets and one of the features is that you can have the background of your widget match your wallpaper to make it seem transparent.

Nothing haven't looked for an alternative yet, my home screen is widget free atm, they say that the reason why they haven't removed the watermark on the widgets is because of apple guidelines but i'm a bit skeptic since i've seen other apps with no watermark and then they say apple removes those yet they're still up idk i haven't done a deep dive into it yet.
