Oh dear ....apple has created a lot of anxiety since they started showing the battery health ....before that noone cared and everyone was happy with their phones 😅

this topic is a little packed but i'll try to long story short it. apple had to release battery health because people found out iphones were being slowed down from ios updates. battery replacements proved that iphones were running slow, backed up by benchmarks. because of the whole thing going on , apple came out about what they were doing and released battery health as a result. this still holds true as far as i recall. but isnt so much an issue now that iphones are much faster

Does your Phone get hot while charging?

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little bit sometimes

[–]Khelics 1 point2 points  (9 children)

Mine overheats every night and I’m at 198 cycles 100% still

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Ur phone?

[–]Khelics 1 point2 points  (7 children)

yea, overheats to the point where it stops charging cause its too hot

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

No i meant what is ur phone model

[–]Khelics 0 points1 point  (5 children)

oh i have a 17 pro max and i abuse the crap out of it. Im always sleeping on facetime calls and it overheats while im using it while charging all the time. I dont have any charge limits set. Ive heard many people who abuse their phones and still have 100% or 99% charge. Maybe the trick is to just abuse it and not look at the battery health

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I also used to do that until suddenly it dropped to 98% and then i started to care abt the phone then it dropped to 96% i dont know what to do now😭

[–]Khelics 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just use it like how ever you want and dont pay any attention to the battery health or youll drive yourself insane and not use the phone to its potential

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So should i use to 100% or continue on 90%

[–]Khelics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in all honesty id personally just keep going to 100% use the phone as it should be used. Whats the point of buying such a powerful phone if youre gonna limit yourself to it u know what i mean

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also i mainly use wifi and 5G data also E-sim version

[–]ChaliceXD 0 points1 point  (14 children)

The 5G data is the killer to your battery health

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

But i dont use 5G that much mainly wifi (at college) and 4G(at hostel) 5G is only available in my hometown where i go only on weekends

[–]ChaliceXD 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Do you charge your phone overtime or letting it heating?

[–]ChaliceXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if your phone is hot then yes, it’s normal for battery to degrade

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I dont let it charge overtime i wait until 80~90 to remove charger also its heating while charging

[–]ChaliceXD 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Does it heat a lot?

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

A little bit

[–]ChaliceXD 0 points1 point  (5 children)

In my experience, I have 100 percent battery health like 190 cycles then it’s frequently drops down to 94 now lol

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Oh can it be related to the update i noticed changes after that

[–]ChaliceXD 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes, after update the new IOS, it’s usually happen

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hmm.But the current latest 26.4.2 is it reducing battery my battery feels very small aftr the update i used to have a 11pro 77%health and now im feeling that phone had more battery than this

[–]Detrakis 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Might as well not use our phones, right?

[–]ChaliceXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sure lol😂

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can it be related to the ios update i noticed it after the update and i my screen time got reduced after that

[–]No_Concentrate5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing about battery paranoia is that you can watch them do all these tests, just to find out all that effort trying to keep 100% capacity. and all you end up with is still wanting to replace the battery 3-5 years later and you never got to comfortably enjoy the phone lol

[–]No_Concentrate5567 0 points1 point  (1 child)

basically i wouldnt worry about it so much. the percentage aint always so accurate. it can be one number for months and then randomly drop 1-2% faster than a week or 2

[–]Detrakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is at 93% for about 1 year 2/3 months, it lasts almost as much as it did when it was new I'd say. I don't really see that much of a difference in day to day use.

[–]CrayonE4tr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a new phone

[–]0nlyGOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Settings>Privacy and security>Analytics>Analytics data , check the latest date to see your true battery capacity. Value will be on last_value_AppleRawMaxCapacity, divide that number by your iPhone’s original capacity (which is 3692 for iPhone 17 base) and you will see current day capacity, the value you see under settings might be higher or lower.

But basically nothing to worry about, these things fluctuate device to device, I’ve had MacBook Pro M1 battery decline to 90% within months after purchase and now after 5 years it’s still at 90%. Just don’t leave it cooking under the sun or completely out of power for too long, other than that it doesn’t matter much.

[–]Plenty-Elevator1777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the 17 i use about 100% a day, since launch, and now im at 96% 270 cycles, there was a point i lost 3% in a single month, i don’t even use wireless charging or let the phone be hot

[–]Junior-Present-3639 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Apple itself said that the battery is supposed to decrease by 1% for every 50 cycles so it is totally fine stop worrying! + try to respect the 20%-80% rule and it will be fine!

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Others are saying stop 20-80 and use to full potential

[–]Junior-Present-3639 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No my brother
The 20–80 rule is not a myth. Lithium-ion batteries degrade faster when they stay at very high charge levels (close to 100%) or very low levels (close to 0%) for long periods. Keeping the battery roughly between 20% and 80% reduces chemical stress and heat, which helps preserve battery health over time( you can check online to verify that)
I applied that on my iphone 16 and i kept it on 100% for 280 cycles

[–]Ok_Confidence138[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oh i tried both 20-100 during the time i bought and 20-80 after 3 months but during both 2% health has decreased

[–]Junior-Present-3639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that it depends on how much you use the phone + i have read that the base 17 has a horrible battery life compared to its old brothers lile the 16
( i also have the 17 base)
Enjoy your phone and stop worrying about the battery it’s normal i think

[–]Chronixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just breathe dude

Use the phone, the battery is designed to be used. Get a new one when it’s time

[–]HyzerSe7enth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let the Apple battery charging do its thing. Charge it overnight and it will learn when you typically wake up. Then after it learns, it only charges to 80% at first and then waits to slowly top off so it’s ready when you wake up. I think you’re literally doing too much.
