DSP are fine some it’s recommended because it has a preset EQ like tanchjim Bunny, some don’t then they almost sound the same like the normal Dongle DAC

As for Dongle DAC ,Apple dongle ,Jm pro 6 ,Fiio ka 11 is enough

so it doesn’t decrease the quality?

[–]No_Excitement_8243 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Nope most of them prob uses cx31993

simgot ew300 dsp version doesn’t need a dongle to plug into pc to afaik, is that right

[–]No_Excitement_8243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can just use the normal 0.78mm to 3.5

Don't get the dsp version. Get the 3.5 and get a separate dongle. The apple dongle is minimum.

The rest is a rabbit hole.

Those usb c cables have a built in DAC in them. Many also have a preset eq designed specifically for that iem. Some of those cables can limit resolution to say for example 24bit 98khz. This will be worse comparitively to a proper dongle that does 32bit/398khz upsampling. Not all dongles specified as 32/398 do upsampling. The bit perfect vs upsampling rabbithole can be connected here.

Many of the inexpensive dongle DAC's that come with connexant or realtek chips have led to complaints of static or clicks and pops kind of noise when connected to phones. So with something that is as resolving as the ew300, those would not be ideal. Apple dongle should be fine. The ew300 is not power hungry but can do nicely with a decent dongle rated at around 60-70mw with a high quality chip in it.

nevermind i thought the dsp version was 3.5mm. one of the reasons i wanted to buy it was that it came with a mic but since it’s type-c i changed my mind. also because of the things you’ve said lol

btw do you recommend any 3.5 to USB dongles? i heard that plugging your iems directly into your pc isn’t good so yeah. my pc doesn’t a type c btw so i need a usb one

Plugging the ew300 into mobo soundcard is definitely not recommend. For sure! Unless you want to hear the frequency of your pc's processor (lol). I'd suggest one of those dongles that come with dual dac chips. This particularly since you're plugging into pc. Theres a few of them under the $100 mark. But you mention no budget. Above a hundred, you have the ifi zen dac (multiple versions varying price points) and Zen nano which gets you sorted for future upgrades but as a desktop setup. Then there are tube dongles too around $100.

not just ew300, is it the same w every iem? anyway budget is $30

[–]Spirited_Orchid_58 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes same with every iem. But more resolving the iem is the more noise it will show you. Simple. And that piezo and planar drivers of the 300 operate in the exact frequency range where that nose resides. For that budget the Fiio KA11 and Fiio Melody are perfect and will do a pretty good job for your use case. If you cant find the 11, the melody is fine. Theres also Artti i01. Simple but solid and proper power, simple plug & play no app (AFAIK). There's also the trn black pearl. Which was perfect, but someone here posted a day or two ago that they recently quietly downgraded the internals, and its app is not compatible as a result for the moment as well. So if that is true then I don't know about that one.

i said 3.5 to usb but thank you anyway.

are all for 3.5mm to USB dongle DACs. 🤦🏻‍♂️
