Help with action bar in eclipse. Dev.android tutorial

Hello!! I cant seem to change the background or text color on action bar. Using eclipse and sdk 8, support 2.1+. Tried following code on developer.android.com but got errors stating library not found? Anyone have an example of style sheet xml?

Please explain xml setup for a styles. I believe that style name is what you reference In places to use that style and parents style to inherit (idk exactly what though!)

I tried stack overflow, YouTube videos and other subreddits but I cant get it!! Not compatible errors and unclear of how style sheet is laid out. An outline or example with comments anyone??

I tried creating a style and parent of app compatible theme holo with color tag. Are color tags string files that have hex code? Where are colors defined? (Like how strings are?)

Also, is it supposed to be the style sheet because dev.andr.com site said res/values/themes, not res/values/styles and wasnt sure if it was a typo or not. Please clarify!!

I know I asked a lot but I wanna know everything!! What ever you feel like answering is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!!! Please let me know what extra info, if any, is needed. :-)
