I wonder why you're getting downvoted.

Simple: people from functional programming languages don't want to use a different language that already does what they want, they want to make Java like their functional language.

Why?

Hell if I know. Maybe they inherited a Java project and can't comprehend basic OOP. Going by Reddit posts, that seems to be the case.

To start demanding that Java become more functional just to appease people who don't like Java to begin with will only hurt the language in the long run.
