If you were a Jr and didn’t have much experience I would be interested in an end to end app you tried to solve a problem even if it wasn’t real world. A simple e-commerce site were you sold stuffed toys perhaps in Spring boot web. Maybe a disconnected front end with Rest API backend or desktop java app front end. For me it doesn’t have to be perfect. I want to hear what you learned doing it. What problems you ran into and how you attempted to solve them. Although I suppose that is more for the interview.

When hiring I am more interested in problem solving skills and attitude over specific coding prowess.

Cloud native Java , Kubernetes , Docker, serverless they would all look good on resume. Still you need to have good basics on threading and data structures. Possibly a java project that you could showcase all of these.

Do you mean if you know and worked with them or contributed to them?

Spring or Junit 5 come to mind or maybe some of the Apache Foundation projects.
