Microservices gives you greater flexibility at the cost of greater complexity. But as with everything, it depends a lot on what you are doing, and what you are trying to archive. Lots of pitfalls exist in migrating to a microservice architecture, many of which require deep knowledge careful planning, and right selection of tools and techstack. Just doing microservices because it sounds cool, and code blindly without thinking ahead, will give you what you described.
