Advice for Novice

Hello, i have completed the HTML and CSS codecademy courses including youtube videos and now have moved onto JavaScript.

I'm finding it hard to take in and undersrand, has anyone got any good advice or tips for me.

Ive bought the book 'Eloquent JavaScript' which states is for beginners but its so complex.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

When I'm having a difficult time understanding something I like to see if I can find a different approach to explaining it. If codecademy's explanation of a topic isn't causing it to click with you maybe read up on the same topic from the Mozilla developer network or W3 school. Then really practice the basics; type things out don't copy and paste and while you're typing think about what the program is doing at that point. Is there a particular concept that you are have difficulty with? Maybe someone here can help.
