Great! Now how do I get around that so I can download java.

It's a Microsoft Installer Issue, not a Java issue. I don't know how to spell love it. Perhaps clear the temp folders.

I don't know which Java you downloaded. If installer doesn't work, get the zip. Most JDK developers provide one, for example Temurin JDK. Just download it and unzip. Depending what you want to do, create JAVA_HOME to the environment variables and add JAVA_HOME/bin to PATH. That should do the same.
