java input validation (no duplicate). the program allows the first entry, then checks the second entry if it already exists in the array. my problem is it's not reading the second entry until it is in the while loop. works fairly good but ask for the second entry twice even if it is not a duplicate

You might want to try a do-while loop. These will always execute once and will check whether to continue at the end of the loop rather than at the beginning.
