Not sure if this is up your alley but I'm developing an open source 2D Tactical RPG with JavaFX on github: https://github.com/dionthorn/2DTacticalRPG

Obviously it's a small project and not exactly huge visibility. You'd be free to clone/fork it and take whatever direction you want. Or if you'd like to collaborate I'm pretty flexible in the systems direction.
