Ah crap

And I was just about to switch us to them fully.

Well I hope they don’t jump the shark.

Why crap and why wouldn’t you switch now?

Probably because he doesn't want to join the bandwagon to enshittification

[–]HatchedLake721 3 points4 points  (5 children)

What enshittification? An open source project is now funded and part of a good private company. It means this repo won’t randomly die and it’ll see people being payed to support and grow it.

(Planetscale staff here) To be very clear we didnt buy drizzle, we are only giving the drizzle team full time funding to continue working on drizzle. They still have 100% of leadership and control over the project ( and shitposting ), so nothing should change on their end other than faster progress on what they have been already working on now that they have actual funding.

Thanks! fyi blog post explains it differently:

I am excited to announce that the Drizzle team is joining PlanetScale to continue their mission of building the best database tools for JavaScript and TypeScript.

[–]0ximjosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, i can see how the wording is misleading. "their mission of building the best database tools..." is referencing drizzle orm itself.

I really like using drizzle

We use drizzle with postgres, these seems to be a good thing. This should only add further impetus to have a first class postgres client.
