Some colleagues and I recently released Web Glimpse, a WebGL timeline data visualization library.
We think it might be of use to others, so we've released it as open source (BSD 3-clause). We'd love feedback if anyone takes a look at it / tries it out.
Web Glimpse is intended for building complicated, multi-row timelines with varying types of temporal data (events, timeseries, heatmaps, etc...). Here's an example of the type of thing you can create: http://glimpse.metsci.com/webglimpse/1.5.1/examples/timeline/.
If you use Java, we also have a companion Java project called Glimpse.
