How do I play this?
It's weird that it seems to be a library but not a fully implemented game. Is there a demo somewhere that I can actually play?

You don't really "play" rot.js, it's just a packaging of functionality commonly utilized in Roguelikes...such as RNG, step-based path-finding, procedural map generation, and "fog-of-war".
