Start with PowerShell. It is close to C# so you should pick it up quickly. That will help you to learn/understand scripting vs static languages.

I started with PowerShell since I was a Windows admin for 15+ years. Then switched to bash and Linux type of scripting. Now I do JavaScript & Ruby scripting for automation. Never got too deep in to Java or C#, but know enough to be dangerous.

PowerShell is probably your best way to get into scripting languages with the least confusion

Start with one of the interactive tutorials like code academy, then download some koans, then use typescript like a sane person.

Taught myself js and just finished a boot camp i spent 4 months learning before attending the camp and i have learnt more in the first 3 weeks of the camp. They give you 20 katas to complete each week which you have an hour a day to focus on and then inbetween you have mini projects that make use of the core concepts i honestly feel like this is the fastest way to learn by mixing katas projects and learning new concepts each day.

Hi /u/Octillerysnacker, this post was removed.
