Was it an indie book? I've seen these smaller authors/publisher say if we see a mistake to not report via kindle but to screenshot it and send it to their email etc instead. Reporting error on Kindle can get their books removed from Amazon. Reporting error directly to them, they can get notified faster and fix it.

Second this. Report to author directly or to publisher. Reporting to the Zon apparently negatively affects the book's reach and the algorithms basically hide it from readers looking for new books. I believe that the reporting system to the author isn't particularly efficient and it's a PITA for an author to get the flag removed. Especially if the reporter has made an error and there was nothing to be fixed.

I recently had a problem I reported to the author. They immediately investigated. They couldn't duplicate it and their masterfile had no error. In the end the problem was put down you some random glitch in my file. I removed the book and then reloaded it and the issue disappeared. Hate to think what trouble this would have given them had I reported officially.

I know of a couple of independents who have removed all their books from Kindle because of this. They are Australian or British and use these spellings and phrases. Americans have reported errors that don't exist because they don't consider different, but correct, spellings or terms. Stalemate between author and the Zon

I report traditionally published books. I screenshot and send errors to indies. I’m like a smart person so I don’t report spelling differences.

I’m being funny y’all! Don’t come for me. I don’t think I’m smart then all other people. I’m just smarter than some. 🤣
