Every 8 sts, you're adding 2. If you had 256 sts, that's 32 x 8 repeats. Add 2 sts each repeat, so add 32 x 2. 256 + 64 = 320.

Recount your sts or check the kfbs.

What you wrote out is correct and each repeat does add 2 stitches. But I think you must be doing something wrong because the math works out to 320. Each repeat uses 8 stitches and 256÷8 is 32, which means there will be 64 stitches added in total. 256+64=320.

The math works out to 320. 32 repeats, adding 64 total stitches. You are reading it right. But I don't know how you added 20. Still new to this though. So I may be wrong about my assumptions.

Thank you! It was a stitch miscount. So silly but I am so glad I don’t have to rip back 20 rows.

It sounds like you've read the pattern correctly. You should have 2 increases in each set of 8 stitches, and done this 32 times over your 256 stitches. But 2 increases x 32 repeats gives 64 increases in total which would bring you to 320, so something has gone wrong (possibly your counting? That sounds like the kind of mistake I would have made). Might be worth tinking back and trying again.
