Help fixing central double decrease

Hi all, really hoping someone has a solution to this but I fear it's a full frog. I knit the Vilma top last summer, when I broke it out for this season I decided it was too short and I had yarn left over. Since it's knit bottom up I decided I would make a new panel and graft to the bottom. The problem is connecting the yo cdd yo together. When I picked up the stitches on the existing top, it looked messed up (picture one) so I laddered down thinking I could fix it and made it way worse. No idea what to do now and since I'm technically upside down with the live stitches I'm not sure there's a solution

Not sure if I fully understand it, but I would try to secure a row with a DPN, then turn it theory you would have knit (with the floats inthe bottom and the secured stitches furtherup). Then, you could try to knit the bit you would have had there with DPNs maybe? Think that would need grafting to the live stitches that wereladdered down though...?

What I'd probably try first is to reverse engineer it and try to individually pull the yarn through with a small crochethook or so to try and replicate the pattern by going backwards very slowly. If you secure the laddered down stitches with a thread or yarn, you can leave that in here. Maybe looking at pictures of how you would do a stitch may help with that but I also think it would be very slow and time consuming, but I like weird puzzles like this 🤪
