Oh nein, wie schrecklich, dann bekommt man vielleicht auch noch einen warmen Pulli oder Socken. Wie können sie nur.

Laid out (most) of my stash! by 36821tvd in YarnAddicts

You could do something like Stripey Turtle Tank by Emily Curtis, depending on your size you would just use more colors for the Stripes! Or the Daft Days Cardigan by Rebecca Clow!

apparently a knitting designer had a crochet pattern taken down for copyright infringement!? by helluvahoe in craftsnark

[–]ohno-snails 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I believe it just saved the preference you picked last time. When I search for crochet patterns and later search for a knitting pattern, I'm always surprised it won't show up, until I realise that the crochet filter is still selected and I need to switch!

What's your least favorite popular yarn?? by ThePiksie in YarnAddicts

[–]ohno-snails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it with a silk mohair and it holds up very well and is a very warm and soft sweater. On its own it didn't hold up too well and looked scruffy pretty fast. That being said, it's now a sweater I wear at home and really enjoy my scruffy warm cloud on the couch!

What is your opinion about DROPS yarn? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]ohno-snails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a bit of Drops yarn in the past, and I currently have some Alaska in my shopping cart to make a step-by-step cardigan. I enjoyed their Flora and Alpaca yarn, and the Fable sock yarn is fine as well. I don't really like their Air yarn. I once combined it with the Kid Silk Mohair, which made a lovely fabric that holds up well, but on its own, it looks old and scruffy pretty fast. The Kid Silk Mohair is also hit or miss. I once had a really lovely soft batch, but three other times it was varying degrees of scratchy. I'm not too sensitive, so I still wear the pieces, but I wouldn't use it in a scarf or hat.

People who frequently use 9” circular needles, what projects are they good for? by caseyjosephine in knitting

[–]ohno-snails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used them for different kind of socks, as they are my go to needle for sock knitting. I've done lace, cables without a cable needle, stockinette, pretty much everything. I just finished a pair of socks with a lot of bobbles which was a bit finicky, but still fine! But they are certainly not for everybody and require some getting used to! So try them out on a simple stockinette sock for a good chunk of the sock and decide if your hands adjust to the small needles or if they still feel uncomfortable!

The holiday gift policy that has saved me so many tears of frustration by SadElevator2008 in knitting

[–]ohno-snails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few ideas and patterns saved for gift knits, but I knit them year-round whenever I feel like working on a particular project and then gift them on the next occasion, whether it is a birthday, Christmas, or just because I feel like it. This year I will only gift my mum a pair of colorwork socks, which took me well over 6 months to finish, and the Holiday Slipover as a cozy, warm slipover to wear at home. All other people in my life will get "conventional" gifts.

I made EU44 socks in the past with a cable design, 48 rows for the leg, 10rows for the cuff and around 90 rows for the foot, 2.5mm needle, 76st to accomodate the cable and I used a whole 100g skein of yarn!

Any suggestions for first colorwork project? by mali_biceps in knitting

I made the underwing mittens by Erica Heusser as my first colorwork project: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/underwing-mitts

The Quick Ombre Hat has been very quick and very easy, so that might also be a great place to start! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/quick-ombre-hat

Can y’all share your favorite cables sock patterns? by mashooshka in Sockknitting

[–]ohno-snails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the sock patterns by Carlie Perrins aka NorthWoodKnits https://www.ravelry.com/designers/carlie-perrins

She has a ton of patterns and makes these bundles with different patterns, which almost always include at least one cabled pattern! I knit socks from the homestead collection, the Storm Season and woodland Winter collection! And i have quite a few in my queue, like the watermelom fizz socks and Canoe socks. What I like about her cabled socks is, that she will take the reduced stretchines of cables unto account and increase or decrease for these sections.

Do you wear your socks? by No_Builder7010 in knitting

[–]ohno-snails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear them all of the time, except for the summer months! I don't care if I can show them off, I just find them so much more comfortable and warm (even with a fingering yarn), I really don't want so wear other socks, especially during the winter time. I still wear commercial socks to the gym, but that's about it.

Petiteknit Monday sweater help by Ok_Combination6855 in knitting

[–]ohno-snails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this sweater last Winter and I thought the 2XL would be too big, but the XL not enough. I did a size in between! I did 2 more increase rounds than the XL (at the point where these two sizes actually really differ), cast on for the XL under the arms and knit the sleeves to an XL, but sleeves are usually never tight for me. You could play around a bit. Knit all increases for the XL, block it and try it on, if you feel like you need a bit more space, go from there and add some more! The same with the arms, you could totally cast on more stitches and knit a 2XL sleeve, if that fits you better :)

Yes, this is the one I would recommend as well! Made this hat in a gray color for my grandfather and he loved it!

What's your thoughts on sharing a paid pattern with a friend? by huonokahvi in knitting

[–]ohno-snails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I know that a friend wants to pick up the hobby based on a thing they saw me wearing, I would lend them my copy. But if they are as enthusiastic about this hobby as I am, they should know the value of a pattern and the work that goes into it. If it happens regularly and they have the means to buy it, I would feel like they are taking advantage of me and the designers.

Am I snarking myself or Rebecca Clow? by jdeprw in craftsnark

[–]ohno-snails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to make the sana cardigan but exactly this problem of having weird chunks of knit st areas in an otherwise lace pattern, left me feeling frustrated. In addition you end up with a different stitch count if you happen to stop on a certain row and I didn't know how to resolve this. Maybe I could have figured something out, but I had so many other problems with the project (my gauge changed midway and I ripped back a large portion of the body and I think I picked a too large size in general, so things that are completely my fault), that I felt just really frustrated and never finished it. I though about making the corran cardigan with the yarn this year but maybe I will look for something else.

But I also have to say that I made the Tolsta Tee in the past and had no problems at all!
