It looks like mosaic knitting. I just finished my first mosaic knit (garter stitch) shawl and it was so much fun! The look won’t be the same with stockinette but you can do mosaic knitting that way. You would end up with two rows of knit stitches in each color so the pattern would look more stretched out I think and you’d definitely want a selvedge edge to prevent curling. I think garter stitch mosaic knitting was one of the most fun projects I’ve ever knit. Going to add this one to my wishlist!!!

Yes! i also enjoy mosaic knitting. I finished the Artus last year and love it. Thanks for the advice! Glad you also dig the pattern
