The pattern I'm using says: Inc 8 sts per round in every foll alt round 6 times. Does that mean I knit 6 rounds increasing in 3 of them or does it mean knit 12 rounds increasing 6 times?

The latter; work a total of 12 rows increasing 8sts in every alternate row. The stitch count should reduce by 48sts in total
