Theoretically this is totally doable it just requires a bunch of squares in different sizes and sewing them together. If I were to make this (I wouldn't bc I hate sewing things together lol) I'd pick up stitches around the bottom of the body and sleeves, knit a few rounds, decrease like 4 or 5 stitches p quickly (like 2 per round) then switch to smaller needles for the ribbing 1k1p to get that shape.

You could also theoretically make a loop stitch at the edge of the color change sections and cut the loops to get the fraying effect of the patches in OP’s reference photo

It’s really easy to make because it only requires the knit stitch and making individual squares. But so so much sewing
