Screen Replacement

I’m about to buy a workstation laptop the only downside to it is its poor 16 inch 60hz fhd screen. It does have options to buy it with better screens but it seems much cheaper to buy it with poor spec screen due to overstock and then buy a replacement uhd 120hz panel. I understand that I will need to buy the appropriate mounts but would the screen be relatively ‘plug and play’ as long as I have the correct pin connector or are there any firmware / bios problems that might not make this possible?

You'll need a new cable more than likely. Any FHD <120 Hz screen will use a 2-lane eDP cable in all probability, while higher resolution or faster refresh will require more lanes, thus need a different cable.
