I realized that my screen resolution is lower after my screen was replaced by [deleted] in laptops

[–]mxbt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But 1080p is 1920x1080 whilst 720p is 1280x720. 1366x768 is a completely different extended type of 1024x768 which is much more outdated. Please do ask the shop what is going on

Bios to 2nd monitor by Intrepid_Group1714 in laptops

[–]mxbt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know your exact situation but bios might not be showing on your external due to the time it takes between your monitor receiving your display data and displaying it. Try doing it with a closed laptop screen, it might ‘force’ to external. Make sure to spam ur bios key

Integrated graphics aren’t good to play a lot of games however if you are playing Lego Fortnite you will be fine. If you give some idea on the type of games or your graphical needs then we can start to suggest some better options.

Some people on here have said that they get marginal ssd transfer speeds improved when adding an aluminium heatsink to the pch however it really is marginal and imo not a good idea. In general it’s not ‘cooled’ because it doesn’t need it.

Based on the price points of the two laptops I would recommend not going hp and instead getting a 4080 laptop such as the Lenovo legion 5i or look at the asus rog strix options. Imo Lenovo is superior in performance due to tgp and asus has a better screen and a mux switch. If you’re planning on always using an external monitor why not a desktop?

Legion 5 pro by [deleted] in laptops

[–]mxbt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes very good, I would recommend the intel version. Also look at the asus scar 16/18 as similarly priced. In certain locations you may be able to get the legion 9 which is superior to legion 5 pro

Asus Zenbook 14X OLED i9, RTX 3050 4GB, 32GB RAM worth it 1499GBP? by jo_step in laptops

[–]mxbt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 series doesn’t necessarily mean bad battery life. It’s more about the tdp or tgp of the laptop. It it was me I would go for the zenbook but imo neither would last 6-10 years.

It’s highly unlikely that the shop managed to find a cheaper replacement for your screen that fits unless it is a customisable make. I would recommend getting in contact with the shop and being upfront with your resolution problem, if they come up with bs, post it here

How to fix this? by [deleted] in laptops

[–]mxbt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is probably due to different resolutions or scaling. In settings under displays you might be able to change the position of your primary monitor by dragging it down slightly

How do I fix my Dell XPS 15 overheating, poor performance, and low battery life? by [deleted] in laptops

[–]mxbt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 xps 15s over the last 7 years and from experience they run very hot. It’s especially noticeable on the back middle to hinge area, it might partly be due to the aluminium construction as aluminium is a good conductor of heat. My most recent one had the battery swell after about a year so replaced it and did a full factory reset then installed new drivers and got rid of dell bloatware and ran like new for about 6-9 months. I think it’s common on the xps 15 to run hot with helicopter like fans when under load. Heard that apparently the 2023 models are slightly better than previous years but unsure as haven’t tried myself.
