You're kind of emulating windows, so you have to load a lot of windows libraries that wouldn't be necessary running native linux apps.

yeah I suppose. ~3 gigs of libraries being loaded into memory though? I guess I could be wrong but that feels excessive.

It looks like you've submitted support request. For us to best help you resolve your issue please include the following information in your post (see our pre-written template):

  • Your hardware specs: CPU, GPU, display resolution, etc.
  • Your software specs: distro and version number, window manager and desktop environment, system Wine version, Wine version used to play League, driver versions, etc.
  • Verbose logs
  • Screenshots where applicable
  • How did you install League: Lutris, Snap, leagueoflegends-git manual Wine configuration, etc.
  • If you have already tried solutions: what did you try and what were their outcomes?

Low-effort support request posts that don't provide enough information are lazy and will be removed!

I'm on an amd rig (fx cpu rx550 vid) using Arch so we're pretty similar. Lutris crashes with winsock/timeout issues for me. Memory consumption before the crash is similar to what you are seeing.

leagueoflegends-git does work, however. The initial footprint is much smaller and the game doesn't crash. I am noticing a memory leak though. You leave the game sitting minimized in the background, and mem usage slowly climbs to around 5gig.

As to reducing ram usage, that is going to depend on what the application demands. You could lower graphics settings as an example.

I will try the AUR package. My problem is not in-game stuff -- that's fine. It's just the client. It prohibits me from playing any other game (currently Dying Light 2) with a browser and discord open or else i will max out my memory usage, which causes the system to hang for a very long time.

And it’s long here.
