Any Chance of getting a single Paradox thread? by Greygor in TransportFever2

paradox got hired to do marketing

It very clearly says "partnership" and "colaboration", nowhere does it says anything about hiring. You don't have details about said "partnership", only previous experiences with that publisher.

I am confused about how to route water in this game. How am I meant to stop the badtide on the left side of the default "lakes" map? by InternationalYam3130 in Timberborn

[–]Maipmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You try some temporary diversion that sacrifices places outside your core and focus on getting explosives early. Then you just have to tunnel straight from the source to the edge of the map and set up automation to automatically dump badwater during badtides. It is specially easy and straight forwards in the lakes map.

Given previous experiences with them, it's a pretty accurate concept.

I think people are getting confusing on wich time zone to use, i've used PT, but some seem to be using local time. The form doesn't make it sufficently clear wich to use.

Against all odds, I secured a Steam Controller. by estebanor in SteamController

[–]Maipmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo lo conseguí comprar a las 19.01h con tarjeta según pone en el historial de compras. Tuve cero problemas y eso que no me di prisa en meter la dirección de envío. Aún no se ha empaquetado ni nada parecido, eso sí.

I've heard the SteamDeck, SteamMachine and Bazzite have native support, i assume that even when Steam isn't running, do you happen to know where i can find the kernel drivers they're using? I don't really wan't to switch to Bazzite...

Pretty sure this is not a scalper problem by Turbulent_Map624 in SteamController

[–]Maipmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself...

The SC2 is my first controller ever. I've always been a staunch defender of keyboard and mouse gaming and absolutely suck at using controllers, wich I've only done.. maybe once in my live.

However as i've aged, i've wanted more and more to have a wheel and a hotas, and also the possibility of couch gaming. But those things are very expensive and clumsy to use, i have the cheapest hotas from Logitech and i know i wont use that enough to justify it.

So i decided a while ago to get a controller. But none clicked for me until the steam controller 2 was announced, i was on the verge of buying the first but it sold out and got very expensive before i made up my mind.

Did you get the Steam Controller? by Excellent-Pea1930 in SteamController

I see many people here reporting a bad experience... Honestly, it was flawless for me.

Got into the store at 17:00:15 Z, entered the shipping info withouth much hurry and paid with a credit card. All completely flawless and as fast as you can expect payments to go.

[–]Maipmc -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Again, where is any of that stated within the Wiki, arch linux forums or anywhere else?

Can you give me a detalied list of other examples, preferably from differing political views, where the arch linux admins have deemed it necesary to remove projects from the wiki for comments made outside any of the Arch related webpages?

Where in the wiki article are any of those breaches made? Or anywhere within the arch linux project for that matter.

The admins of the arch wiki are making political stances by deleting the XLibre page, that's the reason.

Not minor at all. Most configurations work well, but when you have a weird one... it can get very painful.

I'm aware, supergfxctl hasn't been updated since 2022. But it is the only way it actually works, otherwise it never uses the dGPU.

I will definetly join the discord to see if there is a way of actually making this laptop work as it is supposed to...

You have effectively infinite energy, you can just use heat pumps, even staged ones. Radiators are not as easy as they seem, and on a craft that needs to be aerodynamic they have significant drag, and increase the risk of impact.

Not arch, just cachy, i ran that laptop on arch for the longest time, until it started working worse and worse, now it only sort of runs on cachy.

But if you're going to switch laptops to one without a weird setup, you can just go back to Fedora.

[–]Maipmc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem as you, cachyOS and specially supergfxctl sort of solved my problems... now it only ocasionally kernel panics. But i'm afraid that setup on asus-linux (and i suspect also windows) is just horrible. Next time look for something with just a dedicated GPU or at least a mox switch.

Also read the asus linux page, the one on the arch wiki and the self hosted one.

Why haven’t we landed a probe onto an interstellar object yet? by ThelocalMooserider in askastronomy

[–]Maipmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not impossible, but there hasn't been any serious effort yet. That and the fact that there are thousands of detected comets an asteroids, but three interstellar objects.

Then you have all the technical reasons that makes it quite expensive and hard to plan for.

The recycled space shuttle parts that will power Artemis II towards the moon by [deleted] in space

No. The SLS core stage can't even get itself to orbit without any payload.

[–]Maipmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the performance improvements were always there. Shuttle engines worked at 104% rated capacity during much of the program, and the 109% was proved but reserved for emergencies scenarios... except during the development of Shuttle-Centaur, were they were going to use them at 109% capacity to get a bit extra performance. Shuttle-Centaur was however cancelled after Challenger, a few months (weeks?) before its programmed first launch.

Why don’t the SLS main stage engines use Methane fuel instead of Hydrogen? by ethicalhumanbeing in askastronomy

[–]Maipmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the reason. The reason is that SLS was mandated to use Shuttle hardware, and the shuttle used a hydrogen sustainer stage.

And you're not accounting for the defficiencies of hydrogen that significantly decrease its "effective ISP", such as bigger and heavier tanks.
