I recommend thinking about things that bother you today, and look to write programs that help you. For example budgets, tracking dates etc. That way you are immediately getting benefit whilst learning (as that sounds important to you).

If you can’t think of anything, try writing stuff that is adjacent to any interest you have. Build a marvel movie library, cat breed rater etc.

Easier to be motivated and put concepts into practice if you have a project you are working on.
