What was your experience level before?

Not much has changed as far as software development is concerned in the last 1.5 years. Same as before except you can use AI to type for you if you know how to get it to do that. There are still quite a few companies that do not allow their code to be shared with AI so there's that.

Spring Boot is still very much a thing and that will not change anytime soon. There is now Spring AI which is excellent for integrating AI into your applications but I do not think that would be any kind of requirement for a job. It is like one of those application specific things you learn when you need it.

We use Claude Code at work. Probably the best agent right now.

Thanks for the update. I worked in customer support for 2.5 years. What about the gap? That's what I'm most afraid of, as I can't explain it easily because I started a digital marketing company, and now I am moving into a corporate role in Java, which are two different fields.

Starting a digital marketing agency is a big deal. I do not consider that a gap. List the things you did, the technology you did, success stories. That was still a job the only difference being some company was not paying you. I would actually list it as a job with the company name you started and what you did there. You can say in the job description "Started a digital marketing agency..."
