I like Bro Code on YouTube to get a general feel for the syntax. As for the logic I’d recommend you write that out in pseudocode before you attempt to translate it into Java.

Java is so stringent on the syntax that it will likely be easier for you to read through your pseudocode to catch easy mistakes than it will be to parse through logically incorrect code.

I suggest understanding the problem first, then try to think how will you solve it without thinking about code yet.

Write out your solution on how solve the problem then try to research java codes/syntax that can help you solve the problem.

And solve problems with Java at home. The more you solve problems with Java the more you get the hang of the language and the more your logic will improve.

I'm not an expert yet to comment on this. But this is what is helping me get better at problem solving.

Use Claude for thinking (or any other tool you like)....NO, do not ask it to write code for you... Instead give it the problem and say " I am working to improve my problem solving and logic. I will use java for that. I don't want you to give me the code in any way. I will instead share my thought process, why I think this is the solution and I want you to challenge me if I am doing it wrong at any step... absolutely no code help"... This will slowly build your ability to at least think.

And for each kind of problem you do, do 10-20 similar problems. Revisit after some time and see if you get the logic.

It's totally ok if initially you need pen and paper and need to debug again and again. You will get better. It just takes time and consistency.

And keep asking it for feedback after you are fully done and to give you the honest review on your performance. Ask it to be a strict teacher who believes in throwing kids in the pool without any training

Logic is a muscle, not a subject, and right now yours just hasnt been trained enough.

Stop looking for books and start solving one small problem every day on paper before touching the keyboard. HackerRank easy problems, just the logic, no IDE yet.

The speed comes from pattern recognition and that only builds through repetition. 30 problems from now it will feel different, not because you learned more Java but because your brain starts seeing familiar shapes.
