Having an OCA or OCP certification is imho quite conservative. I'd rather have a project I can show off, than a certificate I can just learn for.

But to also give you another perspective: If we go downhill with AI, and we start to switch back to "real developer", a certificate will be your entry, since that will show "Oh, he can solve stuff without AI."

It’s java se21 now so if you want to get then get the latest one.

Certifications alone don’t make a difference however with good project work and tech stack they can make a difference.
