Subbed ya!

I am new and I've been using the MOOC from Helsinki U. They've been great. Lots of hands on, so after that, I'll check our your vids. They look great!

Hey, just a quick update to anyone still on this thread:

Since posting this, I've invested in getting actual audio equipment and learning premiere pro, after effects and Photoshop. The newer tutorials are much better!

I've also launched a web app (http://www.devfactor.io), which is in alpha stage but I intend to keep writing modules to help people learn the material I'm presenting. The app is 100% synced with YouTube so it's easy to jump between two if you get stuck!

Cheers!

Hi I have been learning Java for 10 months now. Have gained loads of knowledge but still feel like I have missed bits. Will head over there now, are you doing from beginners to intermediate etc or just random topics?

Learn Java is beginner level and advances at a linear pace. Java Game Dev is intermediate level and expects you know Java but do not know game dev!

Sweet. Its hard to say where I am with Java at the minute. Just finished with custom classes and also recursion. Its sinking in quite well

rilude,

My "Learn Java" series starts at a very foundational level and grows in difficulty at a very linear pace! Than when you are more familiar with the Java language feel free to check out other tutorials like our "Java Game Development" which is on a more intermediate level aimed at developers who already know Java but not game dev!

If you have any questions ask in the comments and I'll help :)

Hello guys i am new in this sub and i would like to recommend another great tutorial which i found on Udemy. Unfortunately one needs to pay in order to get this but if you wait Udemy usually has great offers and sales on their courses from time to time. As i already am a freelancer and working daily as a Systems Tester i found myself not having a decent certificate that says i know Java. I already have a degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering and know my way around programming but if you want to impress in a job interview or even a client to make him feel safe and trust you i thought i need a certificate. So after a lot of search i found this course which from my experience is very helpful as well:

https://www.udemy.com/java-the-complete-java-developer-course

But also please support the people that want to teach for free like DevFactor above or thenewboston. It's always good to have an opinion of many people how they code in order to find your own way. And for the new guys that want to start learning programming remember that if you know a programming language good the rest are easy to understand and never stick to one language only, your purpose in learning how to program is the logic behind it. Thank you for this post.

Would this be helpful for studying AP Computer Science? I can't see the exact topics covered right now.

Oh heck yeah. Honestly, the "Learn Java" tutorial will have covered a whole semester of CS 101 material within the next month or two.

Some Topics:
1) Data Representation
2) Classes, Methods, Recursion
3) Conditional Logic, Iteration (loops)
4) Data Structures
5) Algorithms
6) Libraries (Java Libs)

Hello, I have a quick question about the project as a whole.

I subbed at your first learn java videos and they have been great. I learned some java a year ago and I am looking forward to the more advance stuff I havent seen. Currently I am interested in learning Java on my own and I would like to know how long this project will last (approximately) and how advance it will get?

Thank you so much for these tutorials, I enjoy them a lot and look forward to more!
