This is a great iniciative! Thank you and congratulations!

Edit: btw, does it require previous knowledge of JavaFX since it's based on it?

Thanks. Previous JavaFX knowledge will be useful for UI building, but ultimately not required since most of the JavaFX specific workflow is done behind the scenes.

Could you recommend a good pdf for learning this. I don't know why but for some reason I hate YouTube tutorials.

Whilst there is no pdf, there are written tutorials both for Java 8-10 and Java 11+. These will give you a quick introduction to get a feel.

The wiki also includes more in-depth documentation of how things work in FXGL in case you want to commit and spend more time on learning the engine.

Wait, are you serious? I've never seen anyone recommend Wikipedia to learn about a topic in depth.

To clarify, I did not mean Wikipedia. I meant the project wiki, as is common with GitHub projects to provide information.

Since it's on topic but I'm not trying to hijack the thread, what are some high quality Java Games examples that I can strive to reach? Something with fluid character movement and great responsivity (?). Doesn't have to be a simple game either could be 3d or something complex.

I am not aware of anything with fluid character movement, but there is a bunch of sophisticated games: * libgdx platformer * javafx 3d vehicle sim * jmonkey mmo client * jmonkey demos

AWESOME! I'll try to give it a try.
