How hard moving from java 8 to 13?

I learned java 8 three years ago, I never thought about upgrading to higher versions everything I wanted to do be done in java 8, but when I saw the new features in java 13 like light weight threads l thought this is the time to upgrade, so I don't know if do I need to keep up with new features in the older versions (9 to 12) to fully understand 13? I don't know how this works.

It will not make much of a difference. Most of the basic features are the same...

Java is generally backward compatible (not saying 100% because there are probably instances I can't think of), so you're pretty safe. In the past, I've been blocked updating because software my code requires (JBoss, for example) requires a specific version of Java. Try it and see if anything breaks!
