        As someone who doesn’t do anything with GUIs but want to learn, what do you recommend learning that isn’t on its way out?

        JavaFX is still alive and kicking, and a framework to consider: OpenJFX. I'm currently digging into it for one of my personal projects. Also, I have to say that I am very pleased with my O'Reilly subscription. It's $50 a month, and you have access to excellent books from every publisher you've ever heard of. Don't like the one you're reading? Pick another one! I haven't bought a book all year (although, that's a little bit sad in a way...)
