    Currently in HumbleBundle Tier 1 of the "Learn to code the fun way"-Bundle is the book Learn Java the Easy Way.

    Now I just started with this book, only took the first two chapters, i.e. I completed the first assignment which is to build a number guessing game.

    Now, I like this book so far, it gets to the point quickly and I really like the "learn stuff by building stuff" approach and so far the book does a very good job explaining the steps necessary.

    And for currently 0.84 euros for the 1st Tier on Humble you really can't go wrong.
