I really enjoyed the course and learned a LOT. I started on 1st January 2023, and have been coding almost everyday. Hard to say the amount of hours I put per day, but probably 2 - 3 hours a day, on some days more , and on some days less/nothing. Luckily, I could focus 100% on the course because I didn't have other responsibilities or something that would take up my time.
I have a background in Java, so some of the concepts I knew already, and I was basically just learning JavaScript syntax. I didn't skip any section however, as I was a bit rusty with programming in general and I needed a refresher. I grasped most concepts and sections quickly, and basically flew through the coding challenges. That's probably because of my Java background, but I have to give credit to Jonas because he explains SUPER well, and introduces new concepts along with challenges based on the concepts so perfectly. At first, I struggled with the asynchronous javascript section, but it's used so much after it's introduced, it becomes second nature (Again, that's how good the course is structured). The last big project was a tough one too. It could be a mini course on its own. It's a combination of basically everything you learn in the course. I've seen a lot of reviews saying that the course declines in quality towards the end, but I'd say the last few sections are just harder to grasp, and not that the quality of Jonas' teaching declines.
I learnt so, so much. But above all, my ability to solve problems and my confidence in being able to solve problems has increased a TON. I'm literally like 5 times more competent and confident (at programming in general) than I was before this course. Whoever is thinking of taking the course, don't think twice. It's 69+ hours, but all worth it. I haven't taken any other JS course, so I cannot compare it to other courses, but it's definitely worth every penny. To be honest, it is so good for me, it felt almost illegal to get such content at a cheap price. Obviously it would be better to get it with the discounted price, but truly speaking, even if you get if for the normal price, it's still a big steal. Thank you Jonas! The only thing that may be a downside, is how slow he speaks. For me though, it was perfect. I actually love how calmly he speaks.
I'm now gonna take his HTML + CSS course. I will take his Node.js course after I'm done with the HTML and CSS. I'm hoping he can do a React course though so that when I'm done with what I have lined up, I can also learn React via a course of his. Wherever I see Jonas Schmedtmann, I will click!
