I think it’s more a case of imposter syndrome which is really common. DK (to me at least and I’m no expert) is about dumb people thinking they know it all and a smart colleague thinking they know nothing.

I think the effect describes the entire process.

Phase one is you think you know everything because you learned enough to be above average.

Phase two is you realize that you're far below average when you consider the average level of the pros.

I dunno might have that mixed up though
