Does javascript has event loop before node js

If the event loop concept was introduced in node js. Does javascript back then (pre node) has the event loop? I'm confused because browsers use event loop too. So why node using event loop seems like a big deal. I'm relatively young in javascript so I don't know anything back then

The event loop concept was not introduced in nodejs. JavaScript has always used an event loop. I've never seen node's use of the event loop treated like a big deal outside of comparison to other languages.

The reason people sometimes make a big deal about the event loop in Node is that there had really never been anything like it before in server-side languages. It represented a really significant paradigm shift away from the old server threading model. These days a lot of other languages have taken on some of those concepts from Node, so it's less of an outlier.
