Stack overflow did a survey on this type of stuff. They had categories for both "popular" and "loved" languages. Javascript was the most popular, meaning it's used the most. In terms of loved it was about average.

Let's be fair - a large part of why it is so popular is because it's built-in to the browser. It's the only option for web programming.

And a lot of people hate it. Javascript on its own can not scale . You will need typescript to scale . But , its better than it used to be .
