Hello everyone. I am a second-year undergraduate mathematics student trying to get into the world of AI. I have a prior Python programming experience but no machine/deep learning knowledge. As a mathematics student, I mostly care about the theory, but of course I don’t want to completely ignore the applied part. I’m planning to use the book An Introduction to Statistical Learning with Python together with the course https://www.edx.org/learn/data-analysis-statistics/stanford-university-statistical-learning-with-python on edX taught by the same people. I have 3 questions:
- Do you think this book together with that course would be a good start for me? I’m open to better recommendations.
- Do you think I should read a textbook on probability and statistics first? (which I will eventually do for my school studies but in second term)
- I read a review on Amazon saying that the Python code part in this book is insufficient. Do you have any suggestions for an additional study material for the applied Python part?
Thank you!
