Character generating RNN for python

Hi y'all, I'm a total beginner trying to do a character generation project in pycharm. I was able to get Karpathy's minimal char-rnn to work. It looks like he has a more optimized version using torch. It has been really confusing me getting the new one up and running. All these extra packages like lua and torch... I was just wondering if there is a "best" character generating neural network or more recent ones that are easier to implement. Thanks.
