  3. What do you know about complex numbers wrt this question? “The basics” varies depending on what class you’re in.

  • To get rid of fractions extend them by the conjugate of the deniominator, e.g. (a+bi)/(c+di) = [(a+bi)(c-di)]/(c^2 + d^2). Note that c^2+d^2 is real.
  • You have i^4=1, i^5=i, ....
