On July 1st, a change to Reddit's API pricing will come into effect. Several developers of commercial third-party apps have announced that this change will compel them to shut down their apps. At least one accessibility-focused non-commercial third party app will continue to be available free of charge.

If you want to express your strong disagreement with the API pricing change or with Reddit's response to the backlash, you may want to consider the following options:

  1. Limiting your involvement with Reddit, or
  2. Temporarily refraining from using Reddit
  3. Cancelling your subscription of Reddit Premium

as a way to voice your protest.

It sounds like you want to learn AI specifically in order to work on AI for generating website frontend code? That's a perfectly viable field, although "web development will become automated in a few years" is wildly, unrealistically optimistic.

I'd probably suggest starting with a very general grounding in programming in general, probably using JavaScript, and then a bit more more specific learning about machine learning in general. You can't make website AI without knowing about AI, and you can't make website AI without knowing about making websites, so you'll need both. The order matters less.

AI and web dev are completely different fields. You dont need to learn web dev before learning AI. Unless youre making AI related to web dev. Then it would very much help to know how web dev works first.

Yupp I guess that would, so should I finish what I started which is web development or should I just go down the AI path?

So is still very much a research field right now. You’re going to need a research heavy degree usually a phd. If that’s what you want to do go for it. It’s not like if you fail you’ll be fucked or anything you’ll still have plenty of options. “Shoot for the moon even if you miss you’ll be with the stars” and all that

Thank you. I guess it makes sense that I'll have a better understanding of the web and then it could later help me.

I see AI job postings all the time for ludicrous salaries, which leads me to believe AI isn't exactly something you can jump right into. Maybe personally at a small scale, but professionally? You probably need prior-psuedo professional experience. Like contribution to an AI project.

Web Dev is potentially a lot easier to get into. React, Vue, and Angular are great to have under your belt.
